Learning poker at older age 38 (young to others) is a lil disadvantageous for me. Fortunately theres a lot of material online and on this forum, it helps me crush my home game an try to be competive on PS. Sorry to get off topic.

Now to my question, when I'm playing NLHE 6max micros and I'm card dead I look onto PS stats (my hands played) I'll start raising any 2 cards in position if my numbers dip to 10%.

Is there an unexploitable pre flop raising percentage? In other words do we like to keep pre flop raises at a certain percent i.e. 15-20% no matter what or just wait for playable hands?

Don't play bad hands when you're card dead just to try and get your stats up.

If you stay long enough at the table things will even out and the regs at the table will have likely encountered you before so on their HUD you wont look like such a nit.

Opening poor hands because you've been card dead simply isn't much of a reason. Some situations are more favorable for stealing than others. How many hands you've played recently is only one factor in this consideration.

your range must change depending on where you sit at the table. you generally want fish/bad players to your right, and tight/nits on your left. the reason for this is you can open any two cards vs the nits, and play strong cards in position vs the fish/bad players. always adjust your range vs your opponents.

You just have to be patient for the cards to come. I know it can be tempting to play something like J10s in EP when you haven't gotten a hand in orbits, but this just leads to trouble on the flop. What happens if someone raises, and then there is a reraise? Gotta play TAG and eventually things will work out, I promise :D

Thanks for your input guys. *PF touched one something that I failed to articulate...concentrating on table dynamics and game flow.

My logic incorrect or not says that 75% you would wait for playable hands especially in the blinds. Strategically if you notice that I play X% of hands you would fold to my raises (of course being consciously aware of position) regardless of hand value. *What does X=? before you say WTF over?!

Now I'm skewing those numbers because I'm hitting cards and we butt heads because you think im FOS you dumbass fish! Am I not exploiting tight play or am I just delusional and have FPS?

It looks like your logic assumes everyone is operating with the same information, which isn't automatically so. Poker is a game of incomplete info, plus everyone doesn't pick up all the available info on every hand, plus people can and do make different assumptions from the same info which leads to different actions.

As a fairly basic example, let's say you folded pre- on the last 50 hands. Should you get more respect when you now open-raise? Of course, but should and will aren't the same. For one thing, it's not automatically correct to assume everyone has noticed your 50 folds. For another, the "I play my cards" types may play the same even if they have seen how tight you've been.

I guess this is piece of advice if it is any. First do not use a poker steroid (HUD, Calculator) They are useless and you are not learning poker for yourself. A lot of poker players use them but they are just poker steroids to me. If you got to use one to beat someone then you are not playing poker your HUD is playing. Learn to take your beats, take notes, learn as you play. So what no physical tells. It is just making you a better player to play the cards and the previous actions of the player itself. A player is still human and they are always subject to change their minds. Even a HUD can not predict that.

I can't wait to see what everyone has to say about this.....

Lol.

I am a live player primarily, so a hud is useless to me.

That is all
