How to handle a pre flop raise you have good cards. The flop comes you don't hit, but you know that the preflop raiser did not hit. He raises like he has a monster hand. You fold, and this happens again. What should be done? This seems to happen often...

Post these hands, we can help you better then. What are ur stats/reads on the other player? Don't be afraid to fold a good hand if you miss. AK, AQ, AJ, KQ are all draw hands and if the % is low on the miss no need to waste time or money in some cases if not all cases here. These are starting hands so things change once the flop comes. I would assume you are not speaking of pairs here.

What hands would you re-raise and why? What would you say the best decision is that will profit you in the long run?

the posts ITT are way too vague.

OP, we needs HH's.. but in general there's the obv reraises: AA/KK/QQ etc.

you can do it as a bluff, but thats a bit off topic so stick to value hands.

and you're talking about a c-bet.

looks like you're calling way too much pre-flop, even if it is IP.

I have A 10 suited, I call 4,5 7 are flopped. The raiser goes all in. You think I should fold A 10, prior to flop?

Folding or not PF is situational. What position are you in? Full ring or 6-max.

Who are you raising into (someone who folds a lot or someone who never folds)?

Are you in position or out of position?

These things all matter.

On the whole, ATs is a decent hand but the specific situation is always important info.

As stated, post HH.

My take is dont play most marginal hands OOP, especially not by calling pre. The situation you mentioned has a number of ways to be played, and all are dependent on the situation. If you have ATs in the BB and SB raises you that is completely different as to when you are in MP facing an UTG raise. The stats/image of the raiser and his position will make a fold become a 3 bet, depending. Your image will play a part if the raiser seems to be using a HUD/paying attention. Also, say you are on the button with 2 weak/passive blinds, and you have an early loose raiser and 2 callers, then you may want to call. But, it depends.......

Cliffs: dont call marginal hands OOP.

i was saying that if your opponent is raising preflop more often than normal and bets the flop no matter what, that you might want to re raise preflop with a hand that is at the higher end of what you believe his range is.

Not trying to be clever here. But from what you asked, what you're really asking is how to deal with a good player who has a read on a card chaser.

If you have a better hand, then raise. If not, then you wait for one. That's how you deal with a fisherman (LAG).

If he's a better player, then you're in for a fight. Never... EVER play another mans game against him. Unless you have his game down. Still dangerous with a LAG.

Once you have been in enough of these fights, you'll recognize those scenarios. Then you'll have something to base your decisions on.

Which mean try that stuff and loose a lot of money, or utilize the massively helpful search engine here at CC, and learn how to try that stuff.

Bottom line is you're gonna hafta be in those situations to recognize them.

... one last thing. IT'S NEVER ABOUT THE SIZE OF YOUR JUNK. Anybody can catch a hand. Until you learn about reads and position, it's about your cards

play patiently is the solution, and when u get ''monster hand'' call it. Sometime you lose even with ''monster hand'' but your chances are bigger then.
