Hi there, I am quite new to poker and even newer to posting questions on sites so I hope this isn't a daft question.

I have recently started trying to learn the best strategy for Texas Hold'em to get better at playing at cash tables. I have just read a great post on here regarding pot odds, starting hands and calculating outs, etc. I have been playing micro-stake tables (mainly £0.01/£0.02 NL Hold'em on pokerstars) The more I play the more i realise that many people on there will call/raise/re-raise with anything and keep betting and calling until the end. Trying to play conservatively seems to mean usually getting beaten by someone who started with trash.

My question is do you think it would be better to play tighter, playing less hands but with stronger starting cards - hopefully returning a profit in the long run OR loosening up my starting hands - trying to keep up with everyone else, therefore playing more hands with (seemingly) as much chance off winning a hand as everyone else. Also playing against players like this do pot odds matter so much?

Thank you in advance for your help with my question.

The best solution is not cut-and-dried. There is no boiler plate for successful play. You need to grow your skills toolkit and employ every tool that you have at the moment.

I find though that I really like the wild and loose cash players. As long as I have a consistent read on what they're doing, I wait for a great hand and then let them do it to themselves. You can make a lot of money against these players.

The chances of winning on the micromimes are large, you need to play tactics and strategy and then move on to larger limits.
