Do you use the pot button for making raises? Do you use it all the time to avoid other players being being able to read what your bets mean? Do you only use it for some formats of games? Until about 6 weeks weeks ago I never used it and typed all of my bets into the betting window. I did this regardless of if I was playing cash tables or was in a tournament. I think it's great for cash games, but for tournaments often leads to over betting and scaring opponents away from pots and a lot of potential chips. What do you think?

If I want to bet an amount close to pot I use the pot button and slide from there.

I usually do that when I'm multitabling and don't want to calculate the pot by myself.

I only use the bet pot button on a cbet when I'm tilting, its usually not a good idea... 2/3s the pot will make them fold just as well as if you bet the pot, if they dont want to fold you lost a 1/3 more than you should have cbetting.

I use that button. I use it just like ALL my other raises... with purpose. You should always have your plan mapped out, so I feel the same way about this case. The pot button can get a tilted player in trouble, but when used with purpose it can do exactly what it is supposed to sometimes as you say "scare opponents out of the pot" or sometimes suck them right in.
