Looking for a property is all about Location, Location, Location. In poker it is all about Position, Position, Position. The reason that position gets such a high ranking is all about knowledge. When you are first to play you have no idea what the other players are about to do, and early players are very selective in what hands they play. When you are in a late position you have a huge amount of information in which to value your hand again if needed against what has been bet.
In a nine seated table you will play three hands in late position, three in middle and three in early. The sequence if you are in the big blind is as follows,
L3, L2, L1, M3, M2, M1, E3, E2, E1 and L3. The dealer button rotates clockwise after each hand, and it is vital that you know which position you are in, in order to associate the position with the hands to play. It is a simple calculation of finding your position relative to the button. It's not difficult to figure out Late Middle and Early positions at other number seated tables.
