What do people think of the PokerStrategy system for beginners? I'm going to study up on it for the sake of the free $50 they offer after you pass a test, but I'd like to know how useful it is.

Well, if you aren't a losing player and just about break even then there is no reason it can't benefit you and basically earn you free money. The thing is, I'm unsure if they have a high amount of points needed to release them.

There are limitations on the starting capital they offer. You have to sign up through their affiliate link, you have to start playing within two weeks of being awarded the starting capital, you are under restriction to play only the cash games, SNGs and MTTs for which you have 25 buyins, you have to clear 100 player points within 150 days in order to keep the bonus and your winnings, and you have to deposit at least $20 before you can cash out any amount. There are other restrictions depending on the site you play at. For example, Full Tilt has a restriction that, if you make your deposit by credit card, you have to wait 90 days after your deposit before you can cash out or transfer funds.

But I was more asking about the system that PokerStrategy teaches to beginners. If anyone is familiar with it, could you kindly give me an evaluation of it?

Here's the link to their instructions page:

http://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/

The one I'm thinking about is "No Limit Big Stack Strategy." Would people mind glancing at the four basic articles and giving me an evaluation?

I signed up through them, got $50 and 27% rakeback at full tilt. Obviously I took that $50 to a 100NL table and it lasted about 10 hands. I have only been back to the site once or twice and haven't really looked over their strategy section. I am assuming it will just be a bunch of articles explaining the basic strategies of poker. They want you to get better as when you start playing higher stakes you generate more rake which in turn makes them more moniezzz...

How did you manage to get the free $50 without passing their quiz? To pass it you pretty well have to read the articles because their system for beginners is VERY specific.

And today, you wouldn't be able to take the $50 to a 100NL table--there are restrictions under which you play until you clear the starting capital.

I'm disappointed that nobody has bothered to look at their basic strategy articles, which would take an experienced player all of 30 seconds.

When was the last time you went out and read a bunch of articles just so you could answer a complete strangers question?

People are very helpful here, but there are limits.

As far as I can tell (I browsed a few of their articles) they teach very tight nit poker. Its quite inflexible, but if you are a beginner just starting out it should lay a good foundation for your poker carear

Well I did browse through the articles to get the answers for the quiz. It took like 10 minutes and I got $50...

Once the $50 is in your account you can do what you want with it, they have no control over any money that is in your account. It is the same as receiving a $50 transfer from any other player...

Just do the quiz while skimming the articles, get your $50 and start reading up material here at CC. You should be able to find a lot of good articles around here, especially in the strategy section or golden archives.

I bothered since i recived 3 bankrolls from them and of course as a beginner i busted all of them.Read 20 mins, answer in 5 minutes.
It is the strategy for an absolute beginner. TAG play and standard raise and reraise to avoid being trapped. There is not much about postflop play though.
Anyway for and absolute begginer that does not want to spend his money to start playing poker for real moey, it is a good start.

You talked about the partypoker bankroll. But if i wee you i would had choosen the FullTilt BR because several reasons. Rakeback wich is a monstruos advantage for a player, a lot more type of games, a lot more ppl, bonus, points, better promotions, etc. I already had an account but my brother did not had so i made an FT account with rakeback for him:D Guess who's playin.

So their strategy pages are the basic poker. But you have to learn much more than that and watch videos from players that grinded from micros to see how they play or you'll bust that bankroll in no time more like a day or two. They do not care.

The only site that i saw and makes the BR management for you is pokerroomschool. With your bankroll there you can play Limit poker or 10cents SNGs untill you are sick.

I used PokerStrategy for a free bankroll at party poker a couple years back, and I am proud to say that my roll is still alive (and PokerStrategy is glad too I imagine!)

Here is a post from a while back of my experiences.....

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/pok...free-bankroll-offers-138922/post-1110075.html

As for the strategy, it was great! I went from being a losing to a winning player almost overnight by implementing it into my game. I just decided what the hell, I am always losing anyways. This seems way too tight, but let's give it a whirl. And low and behold, I started making deep tournament runs.

The strategy is only useful, however, for freerolls and micro buyin games. Anyone paying attention and with even a bit of skill will take advantage of your Nitiness.

So to answer your question, I found the PokerStrategy concept to be one of the best ways to improve my way-below-average game. If you are a new or a losing player, give it a try. You will be amazed by how much folding you do, but you will also be amazed at how far you start getting in your freeroll and micro tournies.

I haven't read the articles, but I do really like one of their equity calculators which is pretty much PokerStove w/ a lot of bells & whistles -- but they're really nice bells & whistles. It's called Equilab. Give it a look.
