I wish I could play real money on PS.

I have an account and play money on there, but it's pretty pointless. Might get on there and fool around with some PLO though.

I agree with that.At pokerstars, you will get another 1000 chip of playmoney after you've gone out of the chips, that take three times one hour.

The Higher buy-ins, play more like real games. SNG 300.00+ plays like a 1.20 SNG.

Give it a go, i've been up to a 500.00 SNG and the play is a lot better then you think.

There are also some very competitive home games on stars for play chips. EPC is a good place to start, thousands of members so a fair share of donks but if you play awhile and meet some people they may invite you to more competitive home games.

Playmoney Poker is still poker but more like entertainment poker!
realmoney poker is much more serious, but low buyins like 0.10 or 0.02 still more like to be entertainment poker!

LOL

Well, to each his (or her) own. Imho the home game I am in in pokerstars has some of the highest level of play anywhere, very experianced players and always a great game. I have learned more playing there in two years than i learned in the 4 years prior. Again, not trying to start an argument, just felt I needed to represent for the tank lol.

Also, studdaddy420 try pokerstars.net as opposed to .com for free money games.

You can use the .com for play money plus you get to rail the nosebleeds if you like.
Same holds true for the android mobile Apps.

I found many good players on the PokerStars home games. Even at the play chip tables. They can be fun because you get to play with the same players and the completion is much better than the generic games.

Play money is fine for learning the rules and basic fundamentals. Just don't expect it to play like real-money games above the penny stakes.

Don't confuse public play money tables with Home Games for play money. Home Games are created and run by players who control who the participants are, so obviously you can find some very challenging games there. For example our CardsChat league is run there, and it's some of the most challenging play you'll find. But the public games are by and large not going to be taken seriously by most players, which makes it more difficult to get the same feel as a "real" poker game. Something has to be on the line (money, prizes, bragging rights, etc.) for most people to be expected to play somewhat seriously.

As to .com versus .net, definitely get the .com client. US players can still use the .com client. Not only can you rail real money games, but you still get HH's from your play money games (useful in serious Home Games, especially League), replayer, avatars, etc. that are disabled in the .net client.

I've noticed all the play money games except NL hold em on poker stars are played at an acceptable level. I love playing 8 game, badugi, and omaha hi/lo, and the play is generally pretty good. Especially when you get to higher stakes, 50k buy in +. Every level of NL hold em is filled with buffoons though. Still fun.

Don't know if this entirely true. I tried getting hand histories in MTT I played and finished very high in and a message said hand histories aren't available for play money games. Maybe I didn't look in the right place though...

There are 2 versions of PS, the .com client and the .net client, if you have a white star on your avater at stars you have the .net client and therefore you will not get hand histories.

You must have the .com client to get hand histories.

you will not gain any experience playing play chips, you probably are playing against 12 year old children there anyways just goofing off or whatever, just put in a small amount of money if you can and play some smaller table games and learn that way, it is way more efficient rather then play chips, and you gain a whole bunch of experience and knowledge doing it this way. good luck

As Zorba said, and as I said in the post that you quoted, the .com client absolutely allows you to get play money HHs as well as the other .com-only features I listed.
