I'm looking for a program to help track my game and was hoping that I could find some help choosing one. I'm looking for one thats cheap, seperates tourney numbers from cash game numbers, and keeps track of the opponents that I play also. And one thats easy to use.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Holdem Manager (HEM) and PokerTracker 3 (PT3) will both serve you well. The choice is largely a matter of personal preference.

There are threads here about both, if you use the search function.

Sorry, BTW, didn`t mean to seem abrupt. Normally, I`d search the threads myself and give you a link. It`s just that I have the chiplead in a MTT over on Carbon right now and I am trying to keep a close eye on the game and on the opponents.

Looked at both PT3 and HEM....IF you are a cash player...I think HEM is the better of the two.

right click it and drag it.

I just started using PT3 and absolutely love it. I was formerly using Poker Office and hated it, wouldn't really recommend that one and Holdem Manager is strictly for cash games i believe(could be wrong). But i would definitely suggest getting the trial of PT3 and trying it out yourself.

Thanks for all of the information so far;

I play tournaments for the most part, and six man sngs.

I'm about to get back into playing online for money again. Right now I run to AC and play live and play a few home games, but I miss the action of playing for money online.

This just seems like such an advantage that if I dont get one, I dont know I'll be at too much of a disadvantage.

I do have another question about PT3... will it keep track of players that I've played against before?

IE: DonkeyJoe was in ten tournaments with me... the 11th tournament... will PT3 show me what information it has gathered about that player without me having to go looking for it?

Yep, keeps track of every hand they play and stores it so when you start a new tourney and everyone else has 0/0/0 it will show all the stats it has logged on him.

Which tracking numbers (the x/x/x) do people use and what do they use them to evaluate? Like I would think how many times people fold to a raise in the blinds would be an important one. This might already exist but I can't seem to find a post with this info.

the x/x/x you're referring to can be different depending on the way they set up their HUD but the stats your looking for would probably be fold BB to seal and fold SB to steal

My question was more asking which numbers do people use to evaluate others? Like oftentimes I see someone referring to another as 35/0 fish or something and while I know the basic ones, what are other ones that people use and why do they use them?

I have a Mac. No Windows emulation. Is there poker software for the Mac that anyone uses?

Or is there a good article somewhere about how to do hand analysis with an spreadsheet?

I just don't get the software trackers? Do you have to input that information, or does it just automatically read the action as it's happening? Seems to me if you want to keep track of your hands you could simply write them down yourself, that would be the cheapest way to accomplish that.

PT3 will store hand information from tournies but you have to manually enter the result (ie # of entrants, your finishing rank, and any money you win).

From what I've read, there aren't any software programs that auto-enter this data.

For the question about input, you tell it the disk location that you store your hand history in (you have to set this up with your poker site account), it then pulls the hand histories from this location and loads it into the database automatically.

PT3 actually does record finishing rank, and money won as well as buy in amount. The one thing it doesn't record is the number of entrants.

I believe you are referring to VP$IP / PF-Raise/ (FL-See) Aggr.
VP$IP identifies tight or loose players (Voluntarily Puts $ Into Pot)

PF-Raise - helps you to guage how much respect you might need to give to their preflop raises

(FL-See) Aggr shows how aggress. a player is post-flop

I always wondered what those stood for. I had a pretty good idea of what they meant, but this clears it up a little.

When you say how aggressive a player is post flop... do you mean how many times when he has the lead he will continuation bet?
