Hi,

I have recently started to play poker online and really enjoy it sometiems. But lately its getting to me,.
I seem to lose all the time. Even when I am ahead I lose. Also I am sick of the assholes in the chat areas, so damn annyoning

Now I have been reading on some poker sites and it seems there are players out there who make a lot of money. Is this true.

I need help to get better because something isnt right, I have already deposited twice and wont do it again. Next time I lose it all my poker career is over.

Don't get frustrated at all. All players have downswings, even winning players.

Poker is a game about being a long term winner and if what you say is true and you're getting your money in good then in the long term you will be a winning player.

The long term is just that though, long, so in the mean time read some of the strategy articles here at CardsChat and you can always post some hands you feel you want some advice on

anybody here will be glad to give some advice

keep your head up and know that things will turn around

I do feel like giving up on online cards because its such much luck you need.

Honestly the luck is the same

players are just as bad at a .5/.10 game as your local casino's $1/$2 game

like i said earlier though post some hands of yours and maybe through our analysis we can find a leak in your game or a spot that you can improve on

Just fold a lot and try to figure out the other player's game. Everybody loses in the beginning, this is how people learn this game. My suggestion is read read read, and watch everything you can find. Don't try to make desicions like "From now on, I will play like this" Let the experience grow you up. Yet again, the cheapest way to get the experience is read and watch.

There are no pre-desicions in any game, this is a people game like Ivey answered every single times he is asked how he is gonna play; " I have no idea how I am gonna play, I will try to figure out the situations." If you have an idea how you are gonna play, trust me everyone also will.

Swings are part of the game. The way to look at luck is that it is what makes it worthwhile for bad players to play - otherwise they'd quickly lose all their money, quit, and never come back. They wouldn't have a lucky session, double their money, leave the table, and then for the next 2 years keep throwing away money trying to repeat it. You need to have the luck element to have people worth playing against.
Sometimes that luck goes against you, but it's about playing long enough that the luck averages out, and a skill difference makes its impact.
Of course, I'd rather be really lucky than really skillful - there's enough lottery winners that demonstrate that sometimes luck can be all you need to get ahead, but you can work on your skill...

Yes, there are players making BIG money online. There are many more players losing money online, and collectively it almost equals what is being won online. The house online, like any live casino, is where most of that other money goes.

Getting better at poker is what this forum is all about. Getting good at something requires a lot of patience, and really, you should expect to invest at least as much time as you would in getting a good college degree.

You should work on your game using the play money games and freerolls. Either that or treat it as entertainment, and continue to lose you money in an enjoyable way. However, as entertainment goes, it is a lot more entertaining to win!:D

a few questions for you.

1. what type of game are you playing? ring, MTT, STT.
2. what stakes are you playing. bankroll management could be the key.
3. have you read any books, other online forums etc.

you said you are new to online poker. it's been my experience that online is a completly different world than live poker. i think we can help if you are willing to work on it.
