Can any1 help me out. I've been playing 4 years but only started playing more seriously the last 6 months. I can safely say I'm obsessed with poker. Always watching videos. Checking all the sites and most importantly playing. I went to my first live game 2 weeks ago and placedo 7th for £289 not bad £30 buy in.
My question is can people tell me what the terms hand equity mean.
And what ppl mean when they are taking about range ?

Welcome to your new obsession and congrats on your big win!! A great start to your poker career!!

"Equity in poker is the share of the pot that is yours based on the odds that you will win the pot at that point in play. ... If you feel you have more equity in the pot than your opponent (i.e. you have the better hand at that moment) then you generally want to bet,..."

Just start searching the Internet or reading articles/books. Hand equity is clearly explained, way better than my feeble absent-minded brain can.

Study poker. Study some more. Learn the what cards to play pre-flop, but more importantly, learn how to play your hands post-flop.

Good luck.
