So what advice would you give to someone who wants to play more seriously?? Thanks for any replies

I think the answer is dependent on cash games or tournaments.

I think the biggest problem most people have in a tournament is they play too tight. TAG is a good strategy to a point, put because the blinds go up and antes start, there is a point you have to widen your range. A lot of people struggle with this and blind down to a short stack.

In cash games, it is the opposite. People get bored and play too loose. Because the blinds never move, you can afford to play better cards. You can even auto top off. Tight is right in cash games.

The other big spot people have real issues with in both cash games and tournaments is aggression. No matter how much they read about aggression, people limp and min raise hand after hand. You need to learn to be comfortable with big raises, 3 bets, and c-bets, not just when you have AA or KK, but in a broad range of hands.

Wow thanks a lot. Very insightful.
About aggression, when I try to bluff betting about half the pot, people always seem to call or raise. So do you think its just bad luck or a problem with my betting?

maybe your image was not that great. if you want to bluff sometimes your image is supposed to be a tight to very tight player w knowledges. You need to give them fear.

You need to be very selective with your bluffs. Keep watching your opponents and you will know when you can push them off a hand.

Neko67 the best advice I can give you is to turn around and run like hell. I'm joking but it does get tough at times. My best advice to you is that you need to be ready to take every minute you can spare and use it learning how to REALLY play poker. It can't be done any other way. If you work on your game 2 or 3 months and learn a little bit and think you can bypass everything else, the players at every table you sit at will see you have very little experience, and they will start taking you apart. So like I said to start with, turn around and run like hell,

I tried it recently and on a CC freeroll and had the same result .The problem is that in freerolls and low buy ins they don't respect your raises , they call with any two cards , that's sth we cannot avoid . So we choose our ''victims'' carefully , we keep notes on them (I saw on 888poker sngs that my gameplay was improved after I started keeping notes on people and knowing that sb , at least 1 o2 are fish or maniacs or lose , so notes are important ) -keep ntes , take/buy a HUD if you don't have already , you're gonna need it especially on cash games (now on tournaments..... I don't know how usefull it is ) . .

The way I look at the CC freerolls is the same as I do any other MTT They are hard as hell to win because there are a lot good players in them, and they can spot weak plays like trying to bluff. It's hard to put it in words, but there is a way that a good player plays his hand and makes you believe he has the goods. And that's what I like the most when playing CC freerolls. The fight is fun, but the knock out is not
