skill and good math
or
patience and discipline.

I think poker is more about patience and discipline.
Take a vote.

Whatever you decide to vote, post your reply with ways to improve on your decision.

i was hoping you guys had some ideas on how to improve your patience and discipline. I know i need help in that department.

I think we all have those moments where you just have that sudden urge to call that raise with 2-7 suited OOP. Whos with me? Lets all suppress this urge.

I dont think that it has anything to do with good math. Most players know the basic odds of most hands and I think that should be enough to be good at poker.

Patience and discipline to your math and skill - otherwise what is the discipline good for?

I kind of disagree with that.. most poker players dont know the odds of their cards. If most did.. id think there would be more winning players around. Dont you?

There's ALOT more 'math' involved in poker than knowing basic odds.

;)

I picked the maths & the skillzz cuz if you don't have either, it won't matter how patient & disciplined you are.

Oh.. & a P.S. > you'll be in better shape in those spots with 75s than the ol' A7o ;) (jk)

patients is only deceivingly helpful.

Some times it is best to bet every hand some times you have to lay low for a while.

However I do have a problem with not being patient so the thing i decided to do was play a game and sng and just never play a hand the whole time until all my chips were gone. This did not work i made it threw like 3 levels...

So i am still working on my patients but if you can sit out for a whole sng game i think you would have the patients thing covered.

On the flip side i played an sng were i played almost every hand except really bad ones. I got super lucky and won that sng.

So I do feel i need to be more patient at times but tend to think of poker games like a timed level in a video game and you have to make it to the next bubble thingy before your air is gone and you die.

I play a lot of tournys and am bad at cash games. So the running out of air thing prob does not apply to cash games.

Also many wise men have said that with enough patience and discipline you can do anything. So you can listen to them or you can take my advice and be less patient and less disciplined and do some gambling already.

What are you being patient for if not to wait for that moment when the math is in your favor?

Well I also am patient in order to go deeper. I see a lot of people complaining about losing with the best mathematical hand. So after i have built a healthy stack i will some times let these hands go inorder to avoid losing my progress against someone who is going to get lucky.
