I recently (6 months ago) learned the game of NL Texas Holdem. I started playing with friends at a home game once a week. For the first 2 months, I was lucky if I broke even or cashed out with less than my buy-in. It was decided that in order to improve my game I needed to learn some basics from outside sources. So I bough a few books, and began applying what I learned. Shortly after, I began consistently making money at the home games. I gave the local poker room a shot and cashed out in 2/5 tournaments I played, generating more profit. Since then I opened two online accounts and have been playing mostly everyday with a lot of fluctuation with my initial buy-ins. Win, lose, up, down. I want to continue learning the game and become a better player, but I feel once again I need outside help. Which leads me to the point of my ramble. How does one go about getting a poker coach? What does having one entail? Can anyone guide me in the right direction on this? Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Also, if it makes a difference I prefer MTT over cash or SnG games.

There are plenty of websites that offer poker coaching. Just google it.
Cardrunners, Bluefire and Deucescracked are all reputable outfits. You can also find lists of live poker coaches online. I don't know how you verify their credentials, though.

Best of luck.

Getting coached is a great way to improve your game. I am about to start working with a coach to become a better player at plo8.

I'll be your coach, I may not be able to teach you anything but I can yell at you when you mess up, take credit for your wins and blame you for your losses.
Wait? coaches don't do that?

Coaches are very expensive, so you may want to try a training site first off and go from there.
