as a person who has being playing poker nearly every day for double figure hours for well over a year, i recently found that i could not bring myself to play for a few days(4/5).does anyone else get like this and do have any tips for countering this?or is it just simply you have to have breaks?

Sometimes my game seems to me to get a bit 'stale'
mainly because i am grinding freerolls and micro.
when i feel like this
i play a bit less and study a bit more.
instead of playing i will ;

read poker articles,
rail good players,
watch poker video's (utube,pokertube etc.)
visit this forum,
think 'generally' about the game,
untill i feel refreshed and enthusiastic, ready to have another go.
taking a break (or taking stock) works for me.
just to give a fresh approach
have FUN and
good luck

Take a couple of days off a week, every week in my opinion. Grinding 10+ a day, every day, will wind you down, no matter how much you love the game.

I'd suggest taking up an alternate hobby to help fill the free time as well. Now that I have a daughter, spending more time with her works for me.

Before that, I would spend time catching up on current events by reading through Google News, as well as some alternative news sources, getting out to spend time with friends, or getting some decent novels or history books that aren't poker related to help me relax.

Always take at least 1 day a week where you don't do anything poker related to help relieve a little of the stress from the daily grind.

I find I get burned out if I play day in and day out. I have to do some other things to relax my mind.

Generally I do not entirely get away from poker but go to the forums, read or go to my lessons and try and get better at my game.

Sometimes though, I just go away for a day or two and have nothing to do with poker in any way, shape or manner. Then when I come back, I am refreshed and ready for the grind.
