Hi,

this may seem like a stupid question but as I understand it there are 3 aspirations in the poker world these being:

1. Break even
2. Profit
3. Pro

The latter two are self explanitory but if someone could give me an explanation as to what exactly the criteria is for a break even player?

Is it someone who never drops below their initial deposit or someone who may occasionally drop below but on average can reach or occasionally better their initial deposit or something completely different to my interpretation?

Thanks

If you are jusat playing for fun, then breaking even isnt even an issue as the bankroll doesnt matter. You are just gambling and such.

If you intent is to have fun AND make a little profit, then it's a slightly different story.

Until you have 500k hands behind you, a nice roll, a good family for support and a taste of the game that your family worry about you, I would not even worry about going pro.

And im sure some people fall in the middle of these as well.

It's someone who stays at or around their initial deposit over a reasonably large sample - if you were to put the results history into a graph the line might jump up and down but the trend line would be flat or close to it.
