You look down at your dealt cards and see American Airways, AA, the top pair, and you think you'll make a killing on this hand.
...you should always think you'll make a killing with AA.
If you think "oh, no! How much money will I lose or how can I make it so I don't lose any money with this hand, I don't care if I just pick up the blinds!" whenever you're dealt AA, then you're being result oriented and that's a leak.
A word of caution - AA is not an automatic hand winner, and it can be beaten. Play aggressively but please do not do all in.
...Go all-in if that's your best option for extracting max value. IE: you're a short stack or you're a med. stack facing a raise and a couple of cold calls before you. Don't go all-in because you're afraid to lose with them.
In the end, you want to play your AA for max value preflop. Whether that means getting it all-in or just raising preflop depends on the situation.
as some yo-yo who hasen't got a clue will call and could beat you. Keep enough of your stack so that if the unexpected happens you are still in the game.
...Those yo-yo's that will call you. Guess what? You want them to call. Yeah, crazy, right? How else are you going to get value for your big hands if players don't call with bad hands?
In my opinion, having everyone fold around to my PFR with AA is far worse than getting called and losing ~20% of the time to a random hand. And that's because my EV is much greater when I get a call and win 80% of the time than it is picking up the blinds+antes 100% of the time.
