So we are playing texas holdem.......

player 1 is dealt pair of 3's
player 2 is dealt 8 and 3


cards on table are 2 9 9 Q Q


who wins?


im not gonna say any more than that... although i know the answer ... had a arguemnt with a friend as he said i was wrong and we won.... im not gonna say which player i was..

Well, you have overwhelming confirmation that it is player 2. I suppose you could print this out and shove it in their face. Or you could be the better person (and just take all their money at the table).

When there are two pairs on board in which no one has any part of them, then the player with the largest 5th card wins.so that would be player 2

Since Q's and 9's are larger than Q's and 3's the pair of 3's are disregarded and the larger kicker comes in play for the Q's and 9's

Yeah so i was player 2... I was SB i called for the flop he checked i checked... turn...he checked i checked...river...he bet i folded as i only had a 8 kicked so assumed he had a better hand.... To then find out he had a 3 kicker.....so he won the hand due to me folding cos my hand was shit....but turns out hos hand was even shitter.... So yeah i wanted to prove a point not get stupid comments saying we both lost and shit..... Like i said the guy claimed to know how to play... Clearly doesnt know the rules... So obvious of a question.... Someone he thought cos he had a pair of 3s and that kept saying my hand had nothing.....when in reality we both had 2 pair and my kicker was higher... His pair of 3s were irellevant..

Sounds to me like he knew he had the nut worst hand and had to bet to win.

Player 2 wins, pocket 3's are countefeited with two pairs of Q's and 9's therefore the only card counts is the 3 where as if you had 8 and 3, the 8 is the kicker with the two pair therefore player 2 wins with 8 and 3.
