You are sitting in a great position when in the small blind, with only one player to act behind you. If two or three players open in front of you, simply value your hand as you normally would in this position. Just because you have put half the bet in, doesn't mean you have to throw good money after bad. Remember you are going to be first to act once the flop goes down. If every player has folded and it is between you and the big blind, this is an entirely different story. You are in a heads up situation and typical hand valuations no longer apply. Play as you would in a usual heads up situation. Don't be afraid to throw in an occasional big bluff.
