Play Them Hard

Without reserve, I play pocket Q's, K's, and A's hard and fast right from the get-go. It's no matter to me whether I'm sitting at a table with a fellow regular--if I've got a gem underneath, I'm going to bet them hard preflop (preferably 4 to 5x BB) if nobody has raised prior. If there is a raise, I'll repop to 3 1/2x the pot. The analysis component comes post flop, well, to me at least.

Depends on situation. Is it live cash game or tourney or is it online tourney or cash game? Different games = different situations. If you want a good evaluation of the question you need to provide more details.

Bet for value. Although how much value you can get from a table full of nits is questionable. Against these players you need to loosen up in order to exploit them. Your question doesn't really let us know the problem here. Is it playing high pocket pairs that you struggle with or playing against a table full of rocks?

In tournaments with an average stack I would probably raise at least 4x BB, however if I've been fairly active I won't raise AA or KK to some amount that's way more than what I've been typically raising. If somebody's been min-raising a lot of hands pre-flop, and all of a sudden he comes along with a 6x BB or more (or even a shove when he's 20+ BB deep), it's pretty obvious that he's got a monster hand. You don't want your bet sizing to be one of your tells, hopefully when you finally get that monster hand you want as much value for it as possible, not just the blinds.

OP, your question is way to vague.

SnG, deep, average stack. That is a start. But how often are you deep in a SnG and have only rocks at the table? Sounds like a specific hand. Post it.

Many other factors are pertinent i.e. your position, action before, stack sizes of anyone already in the hand and stacks of players behind, to name a few.

Site and stakes as well. How many players left? Is the bubble approaching? What is deep for you? Blind levels.....and on and on.....

I play fast and aggressive with most hands against a table full of rocks. Espescially SNG's. Keep steeling blinds until you start to get a few more callers. When it comes to monster starting hands, I play them differently everytime. I believe this keeps you from becoming predictable. I hate getting into pots with the unpredictable players, so I adopted a little of there style.

Right on. One of the best tidbits I've ever read was something along the lines of what you said. Find what makes you uncormartable in hands and apply it on your opponents. Gotta be adaptive in this game.

The cards matter but what about position and stack sizes? I don't think this conversation can even take place unless this is brought into it.

if i have a nice stack of chips..i won't play too aggressive pre flop unless there's more than three callers. i prob. won't even open with a raise at least more than 2 or 3 bb's. i'll see the flop and see how the betting goes. i've had both AA and KK out drawn no matter how tight or aggressive i play with donks getting lucky on crap cards. medium or short stack, i'll just shove and hope for the best. nothing you can really do when someone calls with 10 6..which happend to me at a cash table at Hollywood casino, and get two sixes on the flop.

With that many BBs i would standard raise 2.5 the BB. With 25 BBs or less im open shoving pre. Good luck.

how many effective stack do u have?
if eg 5bb, AA, KK whatever ,you like you hand, there is no difference between AA, KK or even TT, 88, just go all in....

but if 100bb, it is different.

i like to push a little hard in the early. because people like to call ne thing in 10/20 blinds and 20/40. so even if u dont get a caller its better then loosing more by slow playing. But in later stages of tourneys if ur 1st or 2nd to act and blinds are 200/400 + a nice slow call is good. a lot more aggresive players twords the end of tournys. ur call though
