I know they are more risky and more random and all of that, but do any of you think that it's really something plausible to "specialize" in hyper games and make a relevant money playing it?

I have ADD and I just can't play tournaments that will last for like 5 hours, one hour and I'm already doing a lot of other things, sometimes even forgetting the tournament at all if the buy-in is not that high.

Anyway, just trying to find a type of game that could match my brain.. hehe

Thanks for any feedback

Go for it! They are super fast. I think if you win close to 1 out of 4 you can make money.

I've had quite a bit of success playing hyper tournaments. The key is to be aggressive and you can take advantage of all the passive players.

PS I just would go into hypers with to big of a field

Thanks for the feedback, guys

I was very sucessful in the beggining, went from $ 10 to $ 170 in a few days, but I always get too greedy and too confident and start playing like a maniac and eventually I tilt and lose the money

I really take close to 0 risks (I only allow myself to deposit $ 10 a month, the rest I try to get from freerolls and from whatever amount I'm able to win with those $ 10)

At first it worked really great, I stayed low and played mainly about $ 1 dollar or $ 3 game maximum (NHLE), but later on I was playing $ 10 dollars buy-in games with a bankroll of $ 150, which is a little idiot, right? I just can't control myself I think.

I got used to the agressive approach with a medium hand and to explore the other guys passivity, but I just became too confident and lost my sense of hand value and start raising almost anything except 27 (I'm kidding, but I was really stupid sometimes counting that others guys would just fold)

What do you mean with that, Asedu?

"PS I just would go into hypers with to big of a field"

English is not my first language, I live in brazil and sometimes I don't understand fully some english sentences.

But I agree at some extent with Nyolcas, it's really more gambling, but a nice approach, in my opinion, is trying to identify other players playing pattern (there a lot of regular hyper players on PS, for example) and use it against them instead of just playing with no knowledge of your opponents. I'm not working nowadays so I really have a extra time to spare doing that.. hehehe like I said, it worked for a while, but I got too greedy and tilted after a couple of weeks.

Cheers, hope you have luck too, playing hyper or whatever.

Sorry bro but i hate hypers, its really hard to make a comeback on those, i am terible when i have to bring fast decisions, so i stay away from those games, what i like is 5 to 8 min of blinds change, so i can take my time and make the right choice at a given moment, so far so good, doing everything in a rush is for me half assed, and i hate doing anything half assed :D

My bad :(
it was supposed to be "...would NOT go into..."
I mean playing smaller field, so around 200-400 players max, and not 3000+ player hyper tournament. To many players = to much varience = you will find your self playng with 3000 stack against 18000 stack too often, every time you enter the pot you will be woried that your opponent will beat you:mad:

I like to play in same style as SBEP. As he described, you will not have chance for a comeback in hypers. I'm not trying to influence you to choose another style. Maybe the hypers are good for you with a bit more self control ;)

This kind of games are looks to be a kind of gambling, I think.
I agree hehehe

Logically must have a way to be profitable, but the variance must be huge. The guy has to play a lot of tables, clicking as the Flash... I could never do that, not to mention the anger that should give the bad beats much more frequently

I see your point, and I really do hate them sometimes also, but I hate so much more playing for like 3 hours a big tournament and losing all my stack in like seconds. Last time I had QQ and was on top 100 of a tourney with a 1st prize of 10k, so I was pretty confident to raise it, and when other guy re-raised, I called hoping it wasn't KK or AA. It was KT and obviously the damn king appeared on the turn and it just ruined my day.

It happens to me every damn time, so I started to think that it's better to lose it all to a bad beat in a 5 minutes game than to wait 3 hours for the same result... :(

I'm just tired of not being able to hold myself and not tilt in bigger tournaments when something like that happens.

Oh, sure, now I understand. I play really small games, sometimes SNG with no more than 20-100 people.

But that's really something to avoid, too much variance with so many players.

I specialize in hyper games

I always have. Since the original online poker boom. I find Hyper Turbos to favor skilled players more personally. I think it's much easier to beat and actually far less random.

If you're going to play hypers, make sure you study shoving ranges and all that other short stack stuff. Blinds go up really fast and everyone is basically a short stack.
