when do fold mid range pair after being on same table for enough time to them pushing lower pairs or hanging ace two on all in pre flop and getting lucky. Do you fold 99 or push. It came to me came to me I'm fourth to play all before me limped in so raised 5 bb flop 988 I checked raise of pot came to me I went all in he showed quad 8's river was a 9. I did get lucky but did I play it wrong?

If someone raises more than 4bb's before you then fold. If you make the bet then raise (3-4bb's) on SB/BB pos you could just min call or check.
If someone re-raises you preflop then in 90% of situations you should fold. So - be aggressor or pass.

Assuming the stack sizes allowed a shove, there is nothing wrong with pushing 999 on a 988 flop to a raise. Best to not waste your time worrying about flopped quads. There is only one hand of 88 when there are 8 of each A8, K8, 98, & 87 hands (32 total) all of which would play about the same.

That river 9 was a monster suck out though. Love it when those 1 outers come in.

wow, two quads in the same hand I never seen that before. I had quads a few times myself. If I had trip 9's I would have done the same thing, because you assume the best he has is trip 8's not quads

Mid range pairs are easy to play because they are so flexible.

You can bet, raise, call or even fold them depending on the action.

I don't know how deep the stacks would have to be for it to be incorrect to shove 99 on a 988 board.

The only issue for me would be raising/reraising in such a way to get all the money in. I guess after 6 or 7 bets & raises if the villain is reraising me I might begin to think he had the only hand that beats me - but I've never played deep enough stacks for this to be much of a factor with a flopped top full house.

Pre flop mid pairs - it really depends on action/stacks/players/position/action on how to play them. Generally you've got a couple of options assuming everyone still has a playable stack (say 20+BB) - you can set mine or you can raise for isolation/taking down the blinds. If you end up against several players and overcards come you really need a set to continue getting involved. However, if you isolate and are only up against one player then you still *might* be OK with an overcard (or two) so as long as you have position and do a good job of evaluatin the flop you'll do OK.
