Might have read it somewhere but I thought it was always good to play this hand pre-flop? Am I wrong, I always am drawn to play these two hands regardless to mixed results. Anybody else?

JT is a pretty good hand, but it's not always okay to play preflop. You should probably fold it in early position, as there're some reverse implied odds. You might well end up dominated by AT or KJ or something so don't get too attached to top pair. JTs (suited) is significantly better than JTo (offsuit).

Like Kurtimus said JTs is significantly better than JTo. It can hit both high/low straights and flushes. When AK/AQ hits it gives JT a gutshot. It's generally better to play this hand in position and avoid overly large pots.

JTo isn't a good hand from early position but you should play it from late position. I only play it from early position if table is too tight. JTs is a good hand to call a 3bet if you get raised and JTo you should fold to the 3bet most of the time.

I agree with Kurtimus. But, be careful in position you play from.

SUited is always better, but like any suited connector it can lead you into chasing - especially out of position.

Definitely not good to play this hand always preflop, position & stack size just a couple of reasons that can dictate pitching this hand, soooooted is better than off suit, but significantly, don't agree.

freestocks has it suited unsuited position you want to see flop the chasing issue is if villian raised a little and queen flops with with connection chasing that bandit can kill you if they have aq. This really goes into reading opponents and their betting patterns etc.. I always want in on suited decent connectors but is same for 22-1010 i want to get in as cheaply as possible and let others overbet trap is my style

A lot depends upon your position and how cheaply you can get into the game. Late position will give you information how strong (or not) other players' hands are,

When it comes to hole-card value there is no 'always' there is only 'more often'.

Everything in Poker is relative.

I like to play J10 in late position of an unopened pot or in mid position if I have passive players behind me. It can play on a lot of boards but is not hard to get away from.

There are some hands in poker difficult to defuse from: Q10o, JK in early position, AJ, JT wether offsuited or suited is among them from my point of view. U r to know when to fold it cause it's so tempting to be bet that very often brings u so many problems, I've experienced it myself, so be very careful playing JT.:icon_bigs

i get in if its cheap to see the flop, then i decide if i will go on after seeing the flop.
if there is a raise and its gonna cost me big just to see the flop, i would fold.
