Hi. I started off with sit 'n gos and started doing ok. I turned to 2NL solely to try get good at cash games. As there is not much money in the low stakes cash games I've realised I want to grind low stakes 45 person sit 'n gos because there sort of is money to be made in those. But I don't wanna lose what I've learned in cash games. So I wanna focus on both. Do you play both and how do you allocate time to both?

no there is not alot of money at the micro stakes but its not really about that, its about building your game from the bottom and progressing through the levels and then making the money at better stakes once youve earned it.....if you like cash games then grind the micros and learn the fundimentals....each level brings different challanges so you may aswell build from the bottom...

lots of guys on here will tell you to just play one game type, but i think its fine to mix both cash and tourneys weighted towards the game you enjoy the most....for instance i prefer cash games but play tournements a couple of times a week.

I think its fine to play both. Micro cash games are good to learn the basics and its own set of challenges. Try to plan out a day or two for mtt and focus on just playing the tournaments.

Play what you enjoy, which can include both types of game depending on your mood, although probably not at the same time. And as already stated, work on your game. As you improve and move up, your win rate will increase, and maybe you'll decide to specialize.

Making it your goal to make money is kind of getting ahead of yourself. Find out how much talent, interest and drive you have. These factors will go a long way to determining how much you can / will make from poker.

I also play both 2nl and mtt, reason why i play 2nl is that i know that if i ever become a winning player ill start to add tables and earn faster. i play mtt is because i saw that my current poker knowledge fit better to mtt because i dont know much about +ev, and pot ods/poker odds and it is imo lesser problem in mtt then in cash game so i have better chances to cash at mtt which is really happening, i slowly lose money ant cash but cash often on freerolls so i'm sort off break even :D

Cash games and tournaments are for sure different. You want to play tighter in tourneys until it gets deeper. Good luck in your poker journey

nice, yea i was just watching the replay of the sunday millions and a player by the screen name of poker@luffyD came in 2nd place for the sunday million took home 155k and he was also in the supersonic where he took home another 50k. all in the same day pretty impressive to me and probably to anyone, considering how long these tourneys last. I am not to sure how long between the games started but as everyong knows they can last 10 hours easily especially the sunday millions. So with that being said, what are your guys strategies not to get bored, im always tryig to pay attention as much as possible when im not involved in a hand at the table and watch others plays, how they bet how often they 3bet even 4 bet what spots they take to bluff, betting sizes etc but it can get pretty boring. So what is it you guys do to stay i guess mentally on edge.

Honestly you'd be far better off to put your entire focus on one or the other especially as a 'newer player'.
ie. if you're playing 45man Sng, (imo) you want to be playing these to the point where you're making decisions in your sleep. Seriously. (same for 27man, 180's, etc.).

Take a day or two off from them, go play something else.. 2nl, 5nl or whatever but if you want to excel at one format I believe you need to make it your sole focus.

You should only focus on either tournament or cash game poker, not both. Focusing on both will affect the quality of your play, as well as increase your mistakes since tournaments require a lot of preflop play, while cash games are more postflop.
