I have tried "playing" the board and have been successful at it on a lot of the occasions I have tried it. I just do not know when it is a good time to do so. I usually do it when I do have a piece of the cards on the board and am in position just in case it goes sideways. Any pointers on this would be greatly appreciated.:)

I am just a recreational player and what I was asking is probably bluffing using the cards on the board to do so. Sorry for the confusion.

In my opinion, cards will matter little when you are bluffing. That's what a bluff is: reading the player and making them believe you have a better hand then they do and make them fold.

Now you can use 'scare cards' on the board to make it appear your bluff to be believable, but that will require an understanding of your opponent. If they are a savvy player and you have a read on them, you've represented good cards in the past, yada yada, then you can bluff. If you are trying to bluff a calling station, you're wasting your money.

"Using the board" as your hand doesn't make sense. A bluff is about a read on other players, your (current) cards matter very little.
