There's a school of thought that allows you to play AK down to A 9 and A2 up to A5, if you are getting a good value bet to see the flop. Both series are hoping to catch a straight. A8 down to A6 are folding cards.
Assuming an unraised pot and you are in a favorable positipn, how far down from AK will you go and will you even bother about the lower order?

AJ is as low as i go ive gotten into a lot of trouble with AT on many occasions so i dont mess with it or ant of the lower combinations unless its a big blind check or im just tring to steal blinds

I thinks this greatly depends on your position and who is left to act (tight, aggro?). Generally, I will not go below AJ from early, will add A10 from middle, and only add the others (suited A2-A5) from late position. If there is an aggro player to my left, I will not loosen up as much.

It's definitely playable especially if it's suited. You're looking to win a small pot. If you find you can't fold top pair and you're losing money with them just fold. Those hands should be very marginally profitable theoretically but you need to take in to account your personal skill set

In cash games, fold A9 or lower, but I'll play A2,3,4 suited.

Always got into trouble with those hand .I advise to always raise/reraise the Ak and from AT and up just flat call 'em.I am a tight player myself so hope it helps.
