Hi Guys,

Just wondering what tips have you got for someone who is going to start playing a MTT at midnight. I will be playing a couple other MTTS during a major one. 3am is another.

What are some great major things to dim down the effects from a bad night sleep?

Aces2w1n.....

Great question and a scenario that many of us find ourselves in from time to time.

My prep is always to have a sleep earlier in the evening..... Or have a late start that day, say don't get up out of bed (providing you're sleeping) until after midday.

Keep hydrated and have some snacks at hand..... But don't drink too much ( and definitely no alcohol)) as the toilet breaks will definitely get in the way of success.

Finally, if you have the option of playing on mobile, do so at some stage as you can get up and walk around, even outside, to keep yourself awake.

Good luck

BB

Have very good and long sleep during the noon, so long as the hours you will spend from the night sleep!

It makes it hard with the time difference.
I don't know how you guys do it, so all the best in these tourneys.

Regardless of what strategy you choose, I believe having consistency is most important.. Having a set schedule with waking/sleeping/snacking helps tremendously.

Snacking is huge! I often find myself snacking on things (peanuts, pecans, potato chips, etc) when playing tournaments late. I also recommend drinking something with caffeine, such as coffee, tea, or coke. Also, make sure that you eat a meal well before the tournament time (you do not want to get really hungry, but do not eat a big meal right before it starts or it will leave you sleepy)

if i was going to play after midnight and had planned to play it then i might take a knapp-and ide also have some redbulls on hand for when i started getting a lil sleepy-i think something to eat is important as well-ive fell asleep playing some years back so i know getting overly tired is a true game killer

Now on a serious note, i'm in your general area also and I have given up trying to play major events at those times as they just run too long and stamina is hard to have if you have been up all day.

I see you get up at 4am to play normally, maybe on the day you want to play the major then go to bed four hours earlier than you normally do and wake up at midnight.

During your major game try and play some other games to keep you from getting bored by the regular time wasting in those major games, have things that stimulate your mind going on when you are not involved in a hand but always keep an eye out as to what is happening on your table.

Good luck Aces.

Nick.
