He admitted to sharing hand histories of a lot of hands of a player. Not just discussing the player and sharing notes. The actual data that could be studied and a playing strategy developed from these hands. If a player uses the hand histories of hands that he actually played, that's not a issue.
Data mining is sharing something you have laernt personally by observing or playing with someone who was not observing or playing.
Therefor you are sharing information you have picked up with people who havt picked up the information
Player notes are reads you pick up at the tables, say you make a note someone is LAG, and you tell a friend to do the same on the same person, then you have told them something they didnt earn for themselves.
If it isnt data mining its a pretty thin line
