If the initial bet is coming from late position, raise rather than call with your pocket pairs. In fact, you should raise with your small pairs once in a while regardless of where the initial bet came from.
You should also occasionally raise with any two cards if you see the same player making what appears to be repeated steal attempts.
Suited connectors - out of position you are often better off folding if you aren't going to raise with them to try to win the hand preflop. If you are in a multi-way pot, the odds
might dictate that you call and try to connect with the flop.
Over time, you don't have much expected value
playing from the blinds. Because of that, I don't get too worked up over losing them - it's just the cost of doing business. I just look for opportunities like I've described above to get a little bit back once in a while.
