Hi there. I just bought a book on Mixed Game strategies and read the first section on Badugi. Now, Badugi is a game I've never particularly bothered with but the strategy in the book seemed quite straight forward. The problem is this. Usually when I try out a new game I go onto pokerstars and play the freeroll versions of it until I have a basic understanding. Now, in the book, the game is FL Badugi whereas, on Pokerstars it's PL Badugi. I've played several of the freerolls only to get totally crushed. The reason for this is the difference between FL and PL. I've looked on the internet for PL Badugi strategies but none are available. Most refer to FL or, if about PL, say nothing whatsoever worth reading. Therefore, I'm wondering if any of you wonderful people on CardsChat (non-wonderful people can reply to if they so wish) any advice on playing PL Badugi.

well if you are playing the freerolls of badugi on pokerstars my strategy for that was to just wait for pat 10's or better and play them hard since most of the players will raise and raise still drawing 1 or 2 cards at a time so found it to be quite a good spot to try and get a stack going, once it had settled down i'd tend to try and play properly then, looking to hit a good hand starting with 3 low cards and trying to keep the pots small until i had hit what i wanted

I've been playing for pat 9's but to no avail. I'm only playing the freerolls to get a feel for the game as it'd be pointless throwing money away on a game I don't have a good grasp of yet. Thanks for your reply

no problems, just keep trying and you will get the hang of it eventually.

just to let you know that the play chip badugi tables are fixed limit so that may be a good place for you to go to try out the game, get a feel of it and see if you can put what you've read into practice

good luck
