ok so im 18 years old and want to be a pro poker player.

i know right, same old story. anyway i dont know which direction to go in relation to stt, mtt or cash games.

i definitely prefer the idea of tournaments just because you cant lose a massive chunk of your bankroll in a short period of time unless you are just reckless and playing outside of your price range.

i just want to know which of the the three have the biggest income potential now and in the future (as in not a dying game as ive heard that stt are a few times due to the fact that they are more or less solved which provides for a lower ceiling for your roi at the higher stakes)

please don't say which ever you're best at because i am pretty much a clean slate I've bought a few books and I'm getting through them and I've also played a bit on poker stars just trying to find my feet, not for awhile though because i told myself that i wouldn't redeposit until I've read books and know enough to become a profitable player.

just one more side note, i know people say that sng have low roi potential, does this go for the 18/45/180 man sngs also? or are they played like the bigger mtts, resulting in a higher potential roi?

any replies would be greatly appreciated :D

are you any good?

what games are you best at?

maybe play for a few years and learn to be a good player, then you will know which one to pick.

all routes can be good, but you have to be good at them.

i have got chronic fatigue so i have plenty of free time every day, ive already read the harrington books and phil gordons little green book, i have kill everyone on the way.

i can be marginally profitable in live cash games.

i just want to know if there was one route that i should excell at for maximum gain in the future what would your personal advice be? given now that i have an equal skill level in all three.

My advice would be to operate good BRM and start at the lowest stakes.

100 buyins for MTT's
20-30 buyins for Cash.

Play about 100k of hands in cash and a couple of hundred tournament's and then see where your at..Tourneys can give you the biggest return especially if you bink a big one..But cash will give you a steady return as long as you are good enough.

I believe a person can get a good feel for the game, without risking much, with SnG, or cheap MTT. Putting what you read into a real situation, seeing how hands develop, testing strategies, getting a feel on how to read peoples play.
Then play cash games to get a feel for the differences between these types of games.
This will also show you what kind of mental game you have. How you handle bad situations in different types of games, how you handle pressure situations.
Tourneys change from start to finish, cash games not so much, so your mental game will be a big factor in deciding which route to go.
