I have been wondering about overcards, and how well they play. After reading around a bit the biggest thing I've noticed is that they seem to be a bit like marmite, you either love them or you hate them.

I of course am not talking AK or AQs.

I have read that you should always chuck KJo, but my question is that would it not depend on your position and the types of players you are with.

For example if your on the button with KJo and the other players either fold or limp in, could it not be preferable to raise here? especially when playing loose opponents.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated, Thanks.

my action will depend on more factors beyond the cards, but when I have a hand like KJ , KQ , and has limped before my action, if I have a healthy stack , I usually punish and make a continuation bet on the flop that is enough to bring the pot, most often

KJo is completely playable from the button is a loose game with several limpers in front. Just make sure your raise is big enough to shake out the 86os and be prepared to fold to a raise.

Many years ago i stuck to a rigid starting hand requirement based on position. i.e. very tight UTG and loose on the button. tighter earlier and looser later is still my rule, but the if that means opening 50% or 5% from the button depends on the game.

You can play those overcards depending what the table brings.

For sure, be careful and not fall in love too much with them.

KJ, KQ, AJ, suited or not (suited only gives you about a %2 extra chance to win), look pretty but don't always flop too well.

if actions been limped to you on the button, then yeah , raise, you'll rarely see a 3bet in this situation.

early position/middle position with this hand is up to you, depending on table image will depend if you call/fold, but I don't think raising in early position with these hands is a good idea, someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
