I played on Friday in a live tourney as I usually do, the blinds really go up as you get deeper. I got talking to this young guy who said he opened up his range when the blinds got expensive. When he was first to act he often raised with nothing as he said that often he won the pots uncontested. Unfortunately for me I did not even have a mediocre holding for an hour and did not play a hand. Every hand was utter trash 9-2 or j-3 ect...I am sure you get the picture. What would CC members recommend as in holdings to open up pots or should you do it with anything and if reraised fold?

Thanks for all your help, this is one part of my game that needs developing. The Sniper

When you're stealing, which you should be doing a fair bit at a tight table, your cards can be rags. Indeed, it's called stealing because you don't have anything worth playing on face value. If you have even a modest holding, it's somewhere between stealing and LAG.

I just open up as many hands as the table will allow me.

thanks guys i think the 'steal with any two' is good advice, however what if you are UTG or UTG+1? what are the ranges there? also by the time these blinds are heavy you, like I did the other night quickly have 10-12 BB's max you cannot raise and then fold it's a shove only but can you really do this with complete rags? Please tell me on this because it is the part of the game that I have to improve on.

UTG and UTG+1 aren't good positions to steal from because there are more players still to act, each of whom may have woken up with a hand. I think you should focus on improving your steal game from LP and the button before worrying about any of the earlier seats.

Yep, sound advice if you ask me. ;)
