I hope this is the right place to post this.

When playing live there are many things I pay attention to that other players do to get a read on them. When playing online, the only things I have to pay attention to is an opponents bet sizing, frequency of hands played, how much time it takes them to act when it's their turn, frequency of folding/calling/raising/re-raising/shoving/ etc, etc...am I missing something here? Interested to learn how to adapt from live to online when it comes to getting a read on players and to learn what others pay attention to online. Thanks!

online tells are a lot harder to spot than playing live, they are a few at best,i tend to note raise ranges from various positions and any other habits I take notice of-I think online is more instinct rather than tells

You have heard a lot of tells, even have "wrong" examples (not entirely correct) on large screens, which has generated many doubts and misunderstandings, especially among beginners. Proof of this is that most amateur players often look for tells wrong.:bath:

Betting tells are the same online as they are live. To utilize one must pay attention to starting had ranges, bet sizes, and overall hand progression. Does their betting make sense?

I verify if Villain is player straightforwardly or if he is balancing his game. If Villain uses different bet sizes for hands of differents strength, then his bet size is a clear tell. Now, about the time he takes to act, well I am thinking in start using it too, but I find it to be too randomical to be take into consideration.

Online tells do exist but sometime people use those tells to mislead their opponent. I also find that when your in a tournament you get switched to another table just as your starting to understand everyone at your table.

I look for changes in betting patterns or something that is out of the norm for a player.

For example, If I see a short stack at 8-10 BBs that has been shove/folding a lot and then suddenly just min-raises from UTG, then they likely have a pretty decent hand that they want to get value with instead of just jamming. If i get to see the hand, then I make note of it if my theory is correct.

The note will be something like: shove/fold ~10BBs. Min-raises: 12BBs w/ KK UTG [possible minR range: QQ+]

Identifying game patterns of the villains is the key in poker ... both for online and for live .. Of course that is not easy to do ... the use of notes about villains is very important ... you must observe well the size of the bets, how often they enter the hand ... the behavior in late positions .. etc .. that will help a lot to have a good reading ...!

Exactly. .. if I have the nuts or feel I have the best hand and my opponent is the 1 putting the money in the pot I will check instantly and just go into check call mode. Because in my experience wen some1 checks bak fast they r waiting on a card to improve there hand.

Don't forget you can create notes for players online so you can gather more info and over many sessions.
