Whats up everyone. I was wanting to know does anybody truly believe and will endorse the online training sites such as bluefire poker, cardrunners, and any other type of online coaching sites. They seem like such good value, but I do not want to pay if it really is not going to improve my game. Tell me what you think?

Play your game, learn from your mistakes. Improve yourself over time, just start small. Dont waste your money on coaching sites.

Are you a beginner?
If yes, then don't bother with coaching sites for now, rather read some good books and gain some experience first. Coaching sites could be a great thing for players who are struggling and who need a boost in their game. If you feel you're stuck and you need help to grow as a player, then go for it, nothing wrong in having someone to open your eyes.

I think a coach could help you if you have to many there are some things to be shown and discussed that you may get a better understanding of....play is a good teacher and free videos but coaching isn't a bad idea you jus need the money

If you're prepared to put in enough time and effort, and if you choose a training site appropriate to your level, it's an investment that will pay off nicely. It doesn't take much improvement to raise your win rate (or decrease your losses) by $30 a month.

The key caveat is that you won't learn as much or as quickly (and may not learn much at all) if all you intend to do is sit there and passively watch videos without thinking about the concepts and how to implement them in your game against the opponents you face.

Dueces Cracked is probably one of the best training sites with lots of videos including a ton of free videos.

THere is also a ton of poker stuff on youtube.

My advice, cruise the youtube poker video series, there are tons of free videos out there including videos from all the training sites. Then you can pick the site with the videos you like best.

its kind of important to know which stakes and formats you play before giving recommendations

The training site that's liely to be the best fit **for you** depends on you, the state of your game and your goals. As a simple example, if your main focus is to beat micro cash games, your best fit is one for which this area is also a focus, not one that is heavily weighted toward tournaments or high-stakes cash.

Another consideration is that big-name players may or may not be strong as instructors, or their particular teaching and playing styles may not fit very well with how you play and learn.

So, it's up to you to know what you want from training, and then to do the research to find out which sites are likely to fit.

For basic and maybe intermediate strategy:
Absolutely yes. They are extremely helpful for played who have just transitioned from friendly games and have no conceptual understanding of the strategy in poker.

For tournament or advanced plays:
Probably not. The reality is you can try to emulate the pros however you want, but in the end, your understanding of risk vs reward will naturally pull you towards your own style of play. The pros themselves are also changing their style of play all the time, they may have recorded a lesson of poker 6 months ago but did the complete opposite of what they taught at crunch time. Advanced plays only served to eat away at your stack when played at the incorrect time.

The reality is poker takes experience at higher stakes.
