Omaha Poker

I have nl holdem pretty much figured out, but I want to broaden my horizons and start playing Omaha. So far I hate it, probably because I can't get the hang of it. So my question is, which part should I try to learn first? Limit, pot - limit, fixed - limit, or maybe Omaha hi lo? I really want to get better and start playing in some tourneys and maybe some micro cash tables.

A key lesson in omaha is that strength of redraws increases your equity in the pot. Rarely, you will flop the absolute nuts due to the fact that the possible nuts change from street to street.

The biggest thing to learn when switching from Holdem to Omaha is...

In Hold'Em, AA is a much bigger monster than AA87 is in Omaha.! Like, to a very significant level.

I tried to start playing Omaha a lot. It is a tough game, a lot more variance, make sure you have the bankroll to sustain it.

If you want to try it just to learn it, i would suggest playing at a limit smaller than where you play hold'em. This will help with bankroll swings of learning the game.

I find that Omaha hi PL is the best Omaha game for me. I don't like splitting my equity with someone for a low hand. You really have to focus on your hand combination potential. 6 possible combo's for your cards.

Also- you have figured out NLHE?! that's amazing. Why would you want to play microstakes Omaha when you could be crushing the nosebleeds?

I am A tournament player strickly for the most part,but if you ever do see me at a cash ring table it will be A plo table.
I think honestly the variance in omaha makes it rimarily A cash game,but thats just my honest opinion.
I would stick with just straight PLO as a learner for beginners.
When you get into hi/lo etc,there is so much more to learn and so many more doors to open.
Omaha is one of my favorite games around,and have the pleasure of knowing one of the best(IMO)omaha players around as far as ring games go.
It is a great game but intirely differnt game than NLHE,
