so in omaha hi you are primarily look to make the best possible hand with 2 of ur 4 hole cards and 3 of the 5 community cards on board.

in omaha hi/lo u are looking to make a low hand as well as an omaha hi hand. a low hand consists of 5 cards ( 2 from ur hole cards and 3 from the board) that are lower than 8 (Ace plays both high and low)

now, in omaha high/low, half the pot is awarded to the high hand and half the pot is awarded to the low hand. but not all the time there will be a qualifying low hand (because there may not be 3 cards on the board that are 8 or lower) so in that case, the high hand will win the whole pot.

there is always a high hand but not always a low hand

for ur low hand, straights and flushes do not matter. the best low hand is A-2-3-4-5. u can also use the same cards to make a high and a low hand

hope that helps

One very important thing to note is that when comparing two low hands, you always start with the highest card. This burned me the first time I played this game because I thought my A 2 3 4 7 was better than 23456, but I was dead wrong. In that case, they compared my 7 to his 6 and that's a win for the other guy.

Couple small tips-- if you are going for the low hand stay away from A6, as you can never have the nut low with A6. Sure, you are beating someone who has an A7 but chances are you will be no good by the end.

Lastly, one technique you can use is betting big on the river with the nut low. This is costly some times, when your opponent has the same low hand as you, but a better high, in which he wins 75% on the pot. However, say the board is A 4 8 and you have 23. Your opponent has 88. Turn is a 9, and river is a 10, and say that puts 3 suited cards on the board. You can push with your 23 nut low hand and sometimes you can get the other guy to fold his high hand because now 88 doesnt look so good.

Hope this helps.

Omaha Hi Low is almost the same as hi. It has the same rules with relation to the number of cards, straights... and all that, but it incorportates the low part of the game. A low hand is a combination of 5 cards, different cards, 8 or lower. Just like in omaha hi, you have to use 2 of your cards with 3 of the ones on the board to make your low. The best possible low hand is A 2 3 4 5... and the worst low hand is 8 7 6 5 4. Now, there is only a chance for someone to make a low hand if there are 3 low cards, different cards, on the table. If not then you play it as if it were omaha hi. If there are however, then the pot is split in half between the player with the lowest hand and the highest hand. 1 person can win both of these hands if he or she has the right combination of cards, but its usually split between two people if it comes down to it.

I have run into some trouble before in the past with hi/lo,and understanding the lo is very important.
for example you have A2368 for your lo,and the opponent has A2348 he would win the lo.
dont know if that helps or not but I tried.
That is where I ran into trouble early on in my omaha.

Okay

I am actually quite good at omaha hi/lo. Since, you know the hi part, i will teach the low. A234 is the best low hand. Omaha hi/lo is played up to the 8 card. So if the flop, turn, river come out and you have A2910. The board is 348JK. You have the nut low. A2348. If the board was 349JK. You do not have a low, since the lo hand only goes up to 8. You need 5 cards to a low. If you have A236. Board is 23810Q. Your lo is A2368.
