Been playing for a little while now and understand the basic game and strategy. Dont quite understand a couple things the first is, you have to use 2 hole cards and table to make a hand. If the table shows a pair and you are holding the 3rd card for a set, it seems you can still win with a set even tho you are only using one hole card I dont understand that, anybody?:toilet:

What's not to get? You use the third card of the trips AND whichever card from your hand gives you the highest kicker --- that's two cards. If there are trips on the board, you must have a pair in your hand to make a full house. You can make quads with one card from your hand, though. Once again, the second card from your hand is the one that gives you the highest kicker.

Yeah I'm kind of lost as to what your confused about. Exactly the same as holdem except you must use exactly two cards. Granted the two that your using is constantly changing as the board runs out

You have to use 2 of your 4 cards out of your deck. But if u only need 1 card for the table, than it's enough

No; every 5-card Omaha hand must contain TWO cards from your hand. So you cannot make a straight or a flush with one card from your hand. Also, if the board is KKTT6 and your hand is A,K,5,4, you DO NOT have a full house. You play AK from your hand and KKT from the board, giving you trip Ks with AT kickers.

Just remember that your hand can go sour quick. For instance you can have AKJT double suited.

The board could be

A K 3 3 3

Now all you have is AK with trip 3's. Someone with any pair now beats you.

....no....

your hand would be a Full House of 3 over A....

3 3 3 A A would be your hand...You're only losing to 3xxx, AAxx & KKxx...

No, you have to use 2 cards from your hand. 333AA you are only using one card, the ace, and 4 cards from the board, which is invalid. The best hand you can make is AK333

All 4 cards need to have some sort of connection together say you've got K-J -10-2. The deuce is commonly known as a dangler. You should fold those hands. Usually A hand with an ace wins. You need to look up what are the best starting hands are and play those. You have to play very tight, and keep a good eye on your opponents betting patterns. Also, keep a good eye on the board to figuire out what the nuts are going to be. This is important, because if you don't have the nuts you'll probably lose. :)

You need a pair in the hole for a three card set with one on the board. What you had is trips which is a very weak hand in Omaha. The nuts with a pair on board is quads with full boat as near nuts. Trips can be beaten by another person with trips and a higher kicker. Trips winning this hand would be the exception and the rule would be a holder of at least a boat.

A poker hand is the best 5 cards.
In omaha you must use 2 from your hand and 3 on the board.
Whichever 5 cards are the highest poker hand, wins.

Well a simple way to look at it is that there are 2 "pots" per hand, one for the best hand and one for the worst hand (if it can be made).

something that separates hold'em from omaha: on a board of

Ah-Kh-Qh-Jh-10h

in holdem its a royal flush

in omaha the best hand here is a 9 high flush (technically a straight flush but you need the 9h-8h anyway)

(ie: 9h-6h-4c-2d flush > Ac-Kd-Kc-8c Ace high straight > Jc-Js-9c-9d King high straight)

In Omaha, you have to use only 2 of your 4 cards to complete the 5card hand. In your problem above, you hold one card that pairs on the board, meaning you have trips. But you still have to use one card of the remaining 3 cards your holding. Try to pair one of those 3 remaining cards to the board to make a full house. If none then select the highest card and select also the highest card on the board as kickers to complete your 5 card hand.

Hope it helps.

OK this is where I get confused, if I use one whole card and two board cards to make a set, I am not using two whole cards. If I use a 2nd whole card as a kicker does that represent the 2nd card? I keep winning with this scenario but it doesnt make sense to me since you cant use the 2nd card as a kicker in other hands.
