Hi,

Try to keep playing without investing a lot of money. You will end up by understanding the game. What you'd qualify by bad beat now, you'd be doing yourself later.

But if you do not know the rules, I recommend you to stop playing until you do and until you have a good idea of the basics.

PL Omaha is a great game

Pot-Limit Omaha has much more variance than NLHE so expect to be drawn out on more. Everyone has 4 cards so hand strength is much more important. For instance 2 pair is a pretty strong hand in NLHE but is low-marginal in PLO.

I like Omaha very much, because it only needs to play in the best hand, without a flush or a full house on the table, there's nothing to do

Omaha has a lot more bad beats than Holdem, but they are not really bad beats. Unlike Holdem when you have a good idea as the hand goes on where you are in Omaha until the river has been dealt you are very rarely a big favourite.
If you play a lot of Omaha you will get used to "bad beats" and wild swings but it is a far better game, in my opinion, than Holdem, just play at the lowest stakes you can while you are learning Omaha, which can take a long time.

i love omaha h/l online. not as fond of just omaha high.
as far as bad beats go. omaha is a draw game. the key is to be drawing to the nuts. the high end of straights, ace high flushes, good fullhouses not low ones.

I think Omaha is more fun to play than Hold'em but since most sites don't offer a lot of Omaha options and even if they do, the traffic is low so I usually just stick to Hold'em and play an Omaha every now and then.

Love pot limit omaha and o/8 too.

Learning how to play post-flop on different board textures becomes a lot more important when hand values run much closer together pre-flop.

Very fun to switch it up from Hold'em from time to time! :D

I am no Omaha expert, but I can tell you that if you judge your hands using Holdem criteria you will most likely end up losing big time. You need to learn Omaha to play Omaha.

You cant play omaha the same way you play hold em they are NOT the same game. Crappy hands can make the best hands if they connect with the board more than you...

Omaha - Best Way to Learn

I have started playing some Omaha in a small "home" game in Texas. I like the game but the casino games play much bigger. My knowledge of the game is not good enough to play at that level but would like to learn.

I will continue the "home game" but would be interested in some ways to study the game to prepare to play up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I like Omaha. There is less bluffing and more math involved Have to figure what two out of the four card combo makes it to the nuts. Also 4th 5th street easier to play in my opinion. In Hold’em you can play the board.
For example in Hold em AAAA10 board is quad for all players no matter
In Omaha AAAA10 board. You MUST to take three card from the board and combine with two hole card so quad A is not the best hand. It’s something else likely a full house for someone holding a pair in their hole cards
