If you have a straight or a flush, you cannot have "the nuts" until after the River is shown. This is because if the river pairs a card on the board, the true nuts becomes a full house or quads. You don't have to be overly cautious with a straight or flush on the turn, just something to keep in mind.

The nuts can change so.... You can flop the nuts and no longer have them after the turn

The way that this term works is that a hand is considered ‘the nuts’ if it is unbeatable on the current street. This means that a flopped hand that can’t be beaten on the flop but that could become beatable is still the nuts.

Nuts can be caught on any street. And as the cards come out, it becomes clear whether your hand remains on the previous nuts or not.

You have the nuts when you have the best hand at the time. You have the absolute nuts when you have the best hand and can not be outdrawn.
