I was wondering what format people use to take notes? I have used PT4 in the past but the notes are obviously only taken when a hand is shown after showdown.

I started to use a note format like:

[DATE] 4BB raise in to KK2r flop, J turn check turn and called my raise, Q river AI. I mucked hand.

Is this a decent format or is there a "nicer" way of doing it?

not sure what use that note is, ie. if you knew he lead out with nothing for half pot and when he had the nuts he bet 2/3 pot you could do something with that

I love to take notes. It keeps me totally involved in the game. I'll give U an example of how I take notes. I play different games & at different stakes so I always list what stakes/game it is. For example, In $.10/.25 PLO 6-max guy potted with K6sK5off on board of AJ943 bet 1/2 pot, bet less half pot, checked. If he checks on end he's afraid of something so bet to take it, he fires c-bet of half pot trying to rep A on flop & if he bets less than 1/2 pot on turn he doesn't have it.

I know from these notes that if I bet huge on river repping 2 pair that he will fold his kings. I also know from my notes that every time he bets less than half pot on turn that he doesn't have nut hand & can be beat.

Personally I think note taking is instrumental in my success.

The above example could do with a bit more into

How big was the all in? ie what stacks were left? Did they jam just another pot size bet, or was it a 3xpot sized bet? Might only be a small detail but lots of small details make for better overall pictures.

In all fairness, the "note" in my original post was for illustrative purposes as the format I typically use and was wondering if it was different to what other poker players employ.

I like this note format. I will definitely give this a go.
