Hi there hopefully somebody can clear this up for me. bb/100

If this means big bets per 100 hands, what would the big bet be if I play 1c/2c 80c buyin at a fullring?

If you were to try to express your intended bigblind/100 hands at this game what are you realistically trying to make?

BB/100 can have different meanings, it could mean big bet/100 in limit games and big blind/100 in NL games. In NL2 a 5BB/100 winrate would be 0.02c*5/100 = 0.10c/100.

From your post I'd say you're playing NL, shortstack NL since you're only buying in with 80c, deepstack would be buying in with 2$.

Since you're playing these limits I'd say you don't have to worry about statistics like BB/100, these are only a result of playing good poker. If you're already planning out how much time it will take you to reach 200NL, then you will probably go busto. Because of impatience, tilt, plain boredom or something else.

My advice to you is to focus on making the least mistakes possible, money will come in naturally.

But now to your question. A solid player can expect 5BB/100 in general, but at these limits an outstanding player can grind out more than 10BB/100.

Thanks for that, i had always been wondering if 2bb/100 meant you would be aiming to get your chips in 2/100.

Im not impatient right now and have gone bust before. I recently got balances on Full tilt, cake and winner. Im not planning icreasing my limit from micro until i get a good way ahead. Im aware of my skill level. Im focused simply on expansion of the brs.

If i made 4c/100hands every time i played im sure id have more money! I have found I am way more succesfull and confident at tournament poker. As i play i have a feel for the table, am happy mostly with the decisions i make including hands i lose..... make reads and put plays on certain opponents.

By contrast at a cash table i feel a little uncertain, nervous when i open rasie to 6c in middle with 10 10. Nervous when i call/raise with AKs on the button, it amazes me how differently i feel about the games. As i think about this more perhaps i should not play cash tables until further notice.

Anyone got a great link to beginner cash table strategy?

Im certainly more aggressive in tournament games

Ive read pokerstrategy strategies, and am loving this site already. Im reading so much and really appreciate having my questions answered.

I've managed to double my full tilt and cake balances, winner is proving a little tougher and I bubbled 3 times whilst playing increasingly larger buyins to get back to the start. Terribly poor brm. So i dropped to 50.c buy in 10player sng and won them both. Then got 3rd 3rd 3rd in $1 tourneys.

I agree, trying to not to make mistakes here, with such small BRs i have to concentrate on making as few mistakes as possible.

I seek to continue with these rolls using effective brm.

Any suggestions on which tourneys might be best at very low limit on full tilt, the daily dollar sattelites? Im trying to imagine the kind of players that would habitually enter thses tourneys, and whether i may be as good lol.

Many thanks

Roy

a big bet is a term taken from limit poker. it means 2x what ever the big blind is. if you played 1c/2c a big bet would be 4c(the most you could bet in limit poker on the turn and river).

Roy, you seem to have a classic case of worry.

Playing tourneys you have already bought in and mentally the cash is gone so you fear the outcome far less than cash table play.

I used to suffer the same thing until recently when I watched a load of instructional videos and took the ideas into cash tables.

I would suggest that you put a portion of your BR to cash and grind it out. If you think you are ahead then value bet (try make the most of it) and if you think you are beat then fold (who cares if you put 10c in already, better to lose that than even more when you feel you are beat)

I would suggest getting Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager if you haven't already got it. I have stats on my oppenents to hand in the HUD and make choices based mainly on how tight they are.

Simple ABC poker will serve you well at $0.01/$0.02 tables. If a tight player raises then only get involved with a monster hand...pretty standard stuff.

Don't be afraid to buy in for the full table amount (when the monster comes you want all your chips in the middle for maximum gain).

NEVER try prove something, lots of novices will make a move then instead of folding to a reraise they will stay in the hand when they shouldn't just to save face...who cares if you are reraised; if you don't think your hand is good enough then fold it and wait for the next one.

Thanks for that, i agree about the worry. I am perhaps overly concerned about losing each and every hand. Strange I appear to be very loose when looking myself up and but feel tight and weak. Looking at some videos would be a good idea I will do this. Interesting idea about splitting the money for cash games and tournaments.

I just got 3rd in the Full Tilt NZ freeroll for$9 boosting the balance! then logged in here for a little read.

The win makes me feel a little better as earlier today playing 1c 2c i open raise in mid position to 46c with QQ, (there have been some large bets, action given, poor cards shown), so I think I'll take the blinds and maybe hook a donk. nice low J x x flop i got it all in, K 10 off calls.... turn a king. Lost, mm let me see 90bigbets and an hour hard playing, in a mall, on a leather sofa, outside the clothes shop my beautiful poker playing partner buys some new clothes.

She arrived just in time for me to tell her ive nearly doubled my starting stack and see my QQ. Maybe my ego got in the way there as well o dear.

In the freeroll did score a nice full house with pocket 8s on QQ 10 board, i bet he raised, i didnt beleive the guy, he has KK i get an 8 on the river.

Also split pot holding AQ behind AK on A rags flop, A4235 board! So tbh I shouldnt complain because thinking about it my putting bad beats on others seems about a draw for now.

Its a good job shes into poker cos she puts up with me spending err.. some time at it. She cashes in the NZ freerolls pretty easily and plays pub poker twice a week (and won the league!)
