Hi All,
I'm a newbie playing at Bovada and having a tough time playing against the NITS there. Anyone have a good strategy that will give me an edge? Thanks.

The term NIT has come to encompass so many things nowadays it's hard to know what you are refering to. Care to define a bit more elaboratly?

Going by the "original" meaning, if there ever was one haha, I would advise you to play HU's matches, starting of course with 2NL.

^^ I disagree with all of that lol.

How does the term nit encompass many things nowadays?? It's a player who only plays a very tight selection of starting hands and usually has it at showdown. I have never heard it being used in any other context.

Also, why the hell would you want to play HU against a nit? You'll make a lot more playing HU against a fish. And are there any sites that offer HU at 2nl? I doubt it.

I would advise trying to play at tables with nits on your left and stealing their blinds relentlessly. Postflop it can pretty easy to make them fold too, just remember to back down if they show aggression unless you've got the nuts or close to the nuts. As their starting and continuing ranges are so tight it's generally quite easy to narrow down their range post flop.

Nit-Taking

I just found Ed Miller's "How to Read Hands at NL Holdem". The last poster hit it right on the head according to Miller. Nit's play the top 10%, and if facing any sort of a raise he puts them on "AA KK", and if they become aggressive, they've got the nuts. Stealing the blinds, as mentioned before seems to be the only way to get to them. When they think I have the nuts, even if I flat-call, they fold. The cheapest rooms at Bovada seem to have many nits who will stay in that room all day, waiting...and waiting...drives me crazy. So, I joined Carbon - a USA-friendly site and have found a more reasonable mix of players. Does anyone know about the higher $$ games at Bovada - I don't see these 2/4 NL nitty players moving up. They're so tight they would not want to hit their credit cards for the extra buy-ins???

There will be less nits at higher stakes, it's a very exploitable strategy.

Steal their blinds and don't try to bluff them. Any aggression from them is the near nuts.
