Anyways, the reason I join the site is becoz I want to ask for some advice about some poker hands i did play in the past. And just last week, i'm in a 10-20 No Limit Cash Game, I have $680 left in my stack. Someone straddle for $40 and two called when it got to me. I got pocket Queens and I bet $240 and one guy in late position called. I'm not really thinking of going all-in preflop coz I want some money in the pot. The Flop comes J- 8 - 3 rainbow. I went all in and my opponent which got me covered instanly called. his cards are Ad, 7h. The turn is an As and the river didnt helped me. I was so FRUSTRATED that the guy called me with an Ace 7 off suit. But I didnt show them that I'm livid or angry

!!! My question is, did I make the right move, coz I think I did. It just happened some dufus cannot lay down his garbage hands. And my table image is Tight Aggressive btw. Will you play this hand differently? And How? Hoping for some intelligent responses.. Thank You.

Thanks.. I'm still wandering though, if i could get out of a situation like this in the future. Should i slowplay my Big Hands, or be aggressive when im ahead. The problem about this is that, your pot committed after the flop, so even when a scare card shows, you have no choice but to call whatever your opponents will throw at you..

Hi and Welcome, I hate slow playing big pocket pairs cause you are giving others the chance to hit st8 and flush draws so imo you obv. played this well. If you are playing at this level of cash games one would think you would know that you played it well .

I'd say you're playing at too high a level. Although if you've got people like that playing and you can afford to lose a few BI's then carry on. AI, best hand, +ev.

I don't think you're understanding. You can't control what cards fall on the flop/turn/river. You have to just make the right move with whatever information you have available. In this hand you went all in and he called you with nothing! That is a great result! You want them to go all in with worse hands than you because that's how you make money in the long run. Sure a worse hand may beat you because they get lucky but if you get it all on with the best hand on that street, you never made the wrong play.

Why would you ever want to "get out of that situation"? You were able to have some fish call pre w A7.. then call the shove on flop w Ahi. How does it get any better than that?

The only thing you can control are your decisions. Once the money goes in, there's nothing you can do, so don't worry about what cards fall afterwards.

Preflop raise is a little on the large size if you want action, which you do.

As played, you have $440 in your stack and the pot is at least $600 and you have an overpair, you have no play but all-in really. Shove the flop all day and be happy when he calls with nothing.

Not a bad play at all imo. This guy was stacked so he made the pre call with A rag and im sure had position on you but to call ur shove was not wise but this is what u want and I can understand the frustration but u made the right call with the right hand you just got UL here.

It would help if you provided a little more information - that is the other types of players, how you had been playing, whose is winning/ losing, what types of hands have they been showing down etc.

Notwithstanding, you didn't play this poorly $30 in blind, a straddle and two callers so the pots is $150. You make an over bet boosting the pot 390. Now the guy in late position ( I'm guessing he is not in the late blind makes a somewhat lose call increasing the pot to 630. You shove on the flop and now that he has hit his pair, and is getting 2 to 1 he calls and spikes a lucky A. While I may have bet a little less pre-flop with the board on this hand I'm also going to lose my stack. However, with an any Ace player at the table, I would want to make sure I had the bankroll to buy back in if I lost because he eventually is going to lose it all to someone. What really surprised me was the two initial callers who were getting 3 to 1 call post flop who folded - they must have been limping in with garbage - worth noting.

The only thing you didn't mention was his stack size, perhaps he had little money behind so he called, so you could possibly add into your thought process what your opponents stack sizes are. But you did fine, so the other thing you can work on is how to manage being on tilt :)

To be honest, you got it all in with the best hand. There is nothing better to ask for. I mean you got some donkey to go all in with A/7 off and he was basically drawing dead. You play this hand great, but just got unlucky. That's just poker.

All you have to do after this bad beat is basically control your tilt. I've been in worse situations, but that's another story for another time. MAKE SURE you control your tilt.

+1

I've donked away many bankrolls because of me tilting. Learn from mine and many other players mistakes.

So how do you got away from tilting? Sometimes, even though I had bad beats or got outplayed, I just laugh at it inside. You just have to move on, and just let it not affect you. :D

Yep, that is the question.

My answer? You dont. You just be aware and know when you ARE tilted, so you can damage control. And that will be player specific. I have actually hit my restart button on my PC when badly tilted once. I was on 12 tables and started hitting ALL IN on every hand, after 4 quick angry all ins (I didnt even look at my cards) I quickly realized I was off the charts in my tilt and hit my manual restart button on the PC.......

And I considered myself a hard player to tilt.

Tip, dont play when you are in a bad way anyway. It really WONT take your mind off of things (That was mainly typed in for myself)

Tilt control is an important aspect of poker. Just remember that the results of the hand don't matter if you made a long-term profitable move.
