Coupe of newbie questions,

(1) What is the difference between the $1 +$0.20 SNGs and the $1.00 + $0.10 ones?

(2) Does an Ace count as high only or can it be high or low?

I'm playing holdem on Full Tilt

Cheers

$1 + 0.10 (*smaller tourney fee) are usually 'turbo' blind structure games (blinds go up alot faster).

^^^ What PO said.

To be a little more specific, in a $1+$.20 game the blinds go up every ten minutes.
In turbos the blinds go up every five minutes.

After 60 minutes of play in a turbo you start playing with 1000/2000 blinds.
After 60 minutes in a standard game you are playing with 100/200 blinds, and for the next 20 minutes you'll be playing 100/200 blinds (though in 5 minutes you'll have antes of 25).

Needless to say, turbos end a *lot* sooner, so the house takes a smaller cut.

The extra money is just extra rake. The 10 cent ones would always be better. Ace is high in all cases, except for a A-5 straight. (the wheel!)

(3) Want to play at my tables? Kidding, kidding....

actually there are $1.20 regualar speeds and $1.20 turbos. the $1.10s are what are known as super turbos. these you start with only 300 chips(10BBs) and it's mostly a push/fold game the other turbos and reg speeds you start w/a 1500 chip stack(50BBs). you will notice a red "t" denoting the game is a turbo and a yellow "t" denoting it's a super turbo.

I was giving the pokerstars info, as that's the biggest site.

Full Tilt is pretty rough on their micro stakes players. For the $1 S&G's you pay a rake of $.20 for turbos instead of $.10. (IE, you pay twice as much as you would on PokerStars)
In the regular (non-turbo games the blinds go up every 6 minutes instead of every 10 like they do on PokerStars.

Yes, the Full Tilt super-turbos (where you start with 300 chips instead of 1,500) match Pokerstars' $.10 rake, but you get substantially less play because the blinds catch up to the average 300 stack very quickly.

Screencaps of differences

Here's a pic of the Full Tilt $1.10 & $1.20 S&G's, and the PokerStars $1.20 & $1.20 S&G's.
The important parts are your starting stack, and how many chips you get, as they determine how much play you get for your $.10 or $.20 entry fee.
