If you live in the US and want to be able to withdraw money without waiting forever then I would recommend Carbon poker. I'm not a shark and hardly deposit money though but I have been a member of this forum for long enough to have picked up that information.

Try Titan, Lucky Ace or PKR...they have free bank rolls to start and some good sign up bonuses. But I would stick to play money to start with until you get used to the site and online play. Read a couple of books along the way (plenty of recommendations in previous threads) and then just play some low stakes until your bank roll allows you to move up a level. You will get lots of help on CC just ask...Good luck

Phil Gordon's little green book is a good place to start.

Agree with this ^^^ this is where I started - it is mildly weighted to tournament play though... Might want to also consider one leaning towards cash games?

I would still get Phil Gordon's little green book as the really nice thing about it is he takes you through his thinking and possible scenarios as they happen in game (Pre-fop, flop, turn, river), he says in the book that he likes tournaments and he's got a whole section on it in his book (Which is why I say it's mildly focused in that direction) but I think the beginning section is still really nice for cash or tournament games...

I'm afraid I can't suggest a good book for cash games as I only have two (I also have The theory of poker - Slansky) and am going to be searching for good books myself soon.

I know there is a section on CC about books to buy and that's where I was going to look for my next purchases, there are also a couple of threads on here around that have some feedback from some of the more experienced players. I also started by looking at some You Tube videos - I've found these really good, but what you have to bear in mind is the audience they're aiming them at - are they aiming them at beginners like us or break even players looking to move to winning players...

Hope that helps...

Crushing the Microstakes by Nathan Williams (Blackrain79) is a great book for cash game beginners
