Hey all new to poker and been playing online for the last 2 weeks or so. I've read a book or two which has helped my knowledge and definitely learning heaps by reading these forums.

Anyways, after 2 weeks I'm down about $13. It's not to bad I guess... but the place I've lost my money is cash games and mtt's. Especially the "Big $3.30" etc... I feel like I play way to tight and it messes me up.

I' seem to do fairly well in 9-man SNG's, it's the game where I've made back everything I have lost previously.

Should I keep trying to pursue cash games and mtt's? or just stick to the 6/9 man SNG's? I have 2 weeks off now so I guess I can grind them out...

P.S I generally play $1.5 9-man SNG but sometimes move up to the next buy-in level for a game or two if I feel like I am playing okay.

Cheers guys

As a new player I'd advise to play super turbo heads up on pokerstars, I made a bunch of money starting up in those tourneys, definitely easy money

Play the games you are comfortable with. Before I would move up, I would consider multi-tabling in your comfort zone.

But, never play beyond what your BR dictates that you should be playing.

if you're finding success playing the sngs, then continue playing and grind yourself into a nice bankroll. once you build a br to support the poker swings, then you should try cash games and mtts. if you're constantly losing in cash/mtts, then you need to adjust the way you're playing. reading books/studying won't hurt either. bottom line, stick to what you're winning at, grind and build a br, then take your shot at cash/mtts once you've gained more experience/studied.

you will play your best when you don't miss the money you spending... $1,50 sng when you have only 13,00 of bankroll is a lot,... try to grind in smaller ones... the ,25cents and ,50 cents sngs until you have a better bankroll

good luck mate! it takes a lot of practice

As you are a new player you should better play freerolls and low stakes MTT's. this will help you to build your bankroll. In the mean time keep moving up in stakes as ur bankroll increases.

Only play with money you can easily afford to lose, both financially and emotionally.

Play regular speed, full table games. This gives you more time to think.

Play whatever type of game you enjoy. As long as poker is entertainment / a hobby to a meaningful degree, it's not all or not even primarily about making money. Remember that most forms of entertainment and hobbies cost money.
