Hi Guys,

Been playing poker on and off for a few years. I consider myself a complete amateur. Having really looked into it alot these days I see it has changed quite alot or I was just completely oblivious to ranges, poker stats and some of the other stuff that has come along with it.

I have downloaded the iHoldem Indicator, 7 day free trial. I know this is definitely not enough time to see how your play is holding up but I wanted to ask some of your advice on what my stats look like right now.

VPIP: 45
PFR : 27
3Bet: 8/33
Steal/F :52/33
A/F: 5.7
CBET: 50/60
WSD/W: 50/53

Can someone shed some light on the following stats, the indicator says I am a loose aggressive player. Can anyone tell me a little bit abou this, how to take advantage of my style of play and what I can do to improve the stats above.

Many thanks,
FB

First of all, welcome to cardchat!!! I think you answered your own question, you do not have a big enough sample to be able to accurately define your game style. The only thing I can tell you is with your VPIP at 45% you are involved in a tad bit to many hands. The best type of poker is achieved by observing and adjusting your game to what's going on at your table. Give it time, learn as much as you can, stay active here, and you'll be stacking chips before you know it.

With stats like those you are definitely not a Fish. My poker tracker would call you a Whale.

As you say, poker has changed a lot recently with successful players playing far more hands. It used to be that a VPIP of 15-19% and a PFR within 2-3% of that figure was considered the target for a TAG player which was the recommended style.

Still, different strokes for different folks. If you are break-even or winning by playing that way, carry on.

Well , maybe whale would be a little bit too extreme to say. ( Whales have 60-70% and more VPIP stat, I think :D )

You are combination of loose agressive and fishy stats. Definitly tighten up your starting hand selection and your postflop play - good players will easily take advantage of those leaks in your game!

Calling stats like that being involved in a tad too many hands is like sayin the great lakes are 4 puddles on the ground lmao.

To the original poster tight is right. You definitely need to chill way out. Try googling some starting hand charts, that might steer you in the right direction.

Hi Guys,

Stats have significantly improved, I'm down to VP of 20% with a PFR of 10%. Game has improved significantly. With a hell of a lot more hands than the above example.

Thanks for the replies.

If this is full ring cashplay you can do better. Bare maximum I would want to see your stats is 17/12 or 17/14 with a 5% 3bet preflop.
