I just joined this forum today. I have always thought poker was fun. For the past week, I have been in Las Vegas traveling with the U.S. Air Force. I am only 19 years old, but I would love to play poker someday.

Now this is my theory on poker. It is one of the only games where the odds are equal between the house and the players alike. Its not something stupidly simple like a slot machine where all you do is pull a handle an expect to win money. I firmly believe that with enough skill a regular person can turn 50/50 odds into something much greater.

I want to practice my poker mechanics and strategy on a free website. Any suggestions? cheers

Welcome to CC. There's one thing I'd like to point out that. while it may seem minor, really isn't. Because of the fee and rake that players pay, we are, as a group, always at a disadvantage. For example, in a 10 seat $1.10 SNG, the players put in a total of $11, but the payouts only total $10. So all together, the players are at a 9% disadvantage.

A key difference between poker and slots et al is that in other games, you play against the house which always has a mathematical advantage and thus wins in the long run, whereas in poker, you play against the other players, not the house. This means that if you have enough of a skill advantage, you can still overcome the fee / rake and come out ahead.

You can first play free on the PS, and then go anywhere.
