Hi guys, so i been playing at micro stakes for like a month without making any money, i play for like 3h a day, my question is should i study more than actually play poker ? or like should i play 50% and study 50% i know everything about starting hands at micro stakes but i dont really know how to play some hands after the flop so if you guys can post some books to improve my game i would appreciate it, also i know that when you raise and some one call, most of the time you raise again(cbet) if you dont have a hand, but if he calls i dont know what to do , should i raise again on the turn or just give up the hand if i dont hit anything? (srry for bad english and long post)

tyvm for reading

Yea what everyone said play as much as you possibly can if your breaking even thats better than losing and your still profiting in a way... EXPERIENCE which is invaluable IMO..

As far as learning goes, definitely study up when ur not playing.. I like watching videos of good people playing where they talk about their thinking process that really helps me out alot..

I think gaining experience is invaluable and once you feel comfortable at the table, read into theories and common mistakes so you can start spotting your mistakes from an early point and develop your game quickly by adding theories and studies from books and articles into your game

There is no substitute for experience,it is simply something you need. After enough bad beats (these go both ways taken and given) and hands experienced you tend to loose the emotional tie to the moment which helps control tilt.

That being said if you don't look into the theory and math as well as study your game you can get yourself stuck in a rut and not move forward with your game.

A generic analogy I use from time to time as to education vs experience is a surgeon , I don't want one who has tons of schooling and no experience nor do I want one who skipped school because he bought a scalpel and cut on some folks.A balance of the two will serve you best.

I find if you have to choose between paying $15 for a poker book or spending $15 at the poker table, you should just spend it at the tables and gain the experience.

Obviously, you can get a lot of reading material and studying available free online or library, but I think it still stands to spend said time playing freerolls or fun money games.

What happens when new players read books is often they get too caught up in the strategy of each hand and unable to adjust on the fly. Put simple and sweet, new players need to play tight games and not focus on a lot of the advanced tactics so many games push. Those tactics are far more valuable after you've actually played those scenarios a few times and then you can read it and get new insight on perhaps a better way to tackle that situation next time. You don't have to pay to play poker, there's plenty of free games available out there - just be forewarned the tactics other players will use playing a free game is probably far looser than when real money (even a few cents) is at stake.

That's actually a really good analogy.
