I need a 'pen pal' of sorts. Someone to compete with and share articles and theory with who doesn't take it at face value...I want to bounce thoughts off of a similarly skilled player.

Currently I play zone on bovada, I want someone to chat with about weekly goals for competition to motivate me to do better (play more), and to discuss theory. I would like this player to also play low stakes and be a (near) avg winning player to bounce theory off of. I'll play max 6 tables when I get a bank, but prefer to avoid full tables cuz I feel you have to adjust your game more for same results.

About me:

I was a winning player playing 6 max at $50 BI...bought and won to 100, then got drunk and lost it all. Rebought and played scared to 16 and left it. I don't play scared now, and am at 70 from that 16 playing zone (or fast fold) and have tightened up my range. Also won 55 as short stack ($20 when normal buy in is $60) in a live (my first live) 1/1 game. I play solid but only solid at my stakes, and need more thought and quantity to improve without software.

Long story short, I need a poker buddy to compete and think with, and would like them on my game, bovada, to reduce variables.

Any takers?

You don't need a poker buddy. Just post your thoughts here in the various forums and you will get a lot of responses. Don't limit yourself to listening to just one perspective (who may or may not know what they are doing).

Hah, thanks! Glad for the warm welcome. But I was thinking it's easier to say "I lost 20 bucks today in a 10 dollar BI" to one person than post it here and have trolls tell me how much I suck for playing my stakes and again about how I lost the money lol. New still, so not sure how supportive the community is I guess

The cc community is better than that, we are a friendly group unlike some other forums. Most of our members are generally very supportive and will offer advice and review any hands you want feedback on etc.

This game has swings of wins and losses and we can't win everytime we play no matter how good we are or how good we play, its just the nature of the game.

Hell, I dropped 180 the night before last on one site and about 120 on another, but had a great night before that and also won back some last night. It can be swingy especially when adjusting to new formats or new limits, or even new software for that matter.

One thing I myself tend to mention to most players however is to make sure they stick with a good BRM, but even that can go out the window for players playing primarily for fun and have no issue redepositing if they lose whats in their accounts.

So I'd say stick around the forum and see what we are all about, I'm sure you will be quite surprised with how great it is here :D
